InDividuals

Feeling stressed, angry, depressed, or hurt can deprive us of energy, the ability to be available for others, and the ability to operate at our fullest potential. It is at these times that we feel most vulnerable and it becomes difficult to seek help or open up to others. But, it is also at this time that we are truly ready to grow as human beings, and individual therapy can be such a helpful part of that process. It is a fundamental need of each human being to be heard and to feel understood regardless of what issues they are facing. Through individual therapy I can provide you with with time and space to be heard and to work on the issues that are important to you.

AdoLescents

Adolescence is the time in our lives where we really begin the process of figuring out who we are and who we want to be. With such an intimidating developmental task, it’s no wonder that the teens and parents navigating through this phase often experience difficulties. It can be easy to brush off the issues during this time as your teen “just being a teenager” but this is a time where therapy can have such a positive and lasting impact. I have worked with adolescents and their families on issues that range from simple communication difficulties to complex issues such as self-harm, abuse recovery, and gang intervention. I would be happy to talk with you and your family on how I can help you.

Children

We’ve all heard a stories about or seen a child that has been a little too honest about their thoughts and feelings. The beauty of children is that they tend to express their thoughts and feelings regardless of what is happening around them. However, when children begin to have difficulties or experience more trying emotions it can become hard for them to express themselves. This is where a visit to a child therapist can be helpful. I truly enjoy working with children school-aged and younger because they provide such wonderful challenges and such a great opportunity to really make a difference.

Families

Family is such an integral part of our existence, whether in its presence or in its absence. It is within the family that we have our first interactions with significant others, learn how to relate to other people, and get our first impressions of the world. Often when something isn’t working as well as it did before, one person in the family begins to show signs or symptoms of the change. Frequently the initial reaction is to refer that person to individual therapy to alleviate their symptoms. I strongly believe however, that frequently these issues can be solved faster and more wholly by addressing the family system. I have years of experience in working with families and have completed training and an extensive externship in Functional Family Therapy.
